Portrait Questions and Answers

Portrait Q&A

It is the job of a portrait photographer to take pictures of individuals or groups of people either in a studio or on location. Some portrait photographers specialise in weddings, religious ceremonies or school photographs, while others run their own studios and take pictures of families, friends, children, or pets, whatever you want them to photograph really.

A photo portrait is not just a snapshot of someone’s face; it is more about a person’s likeness. A good portrait should express the person’s inner self, attitudes and personality by capturing the face and body in different ways. The aim of a portrait photograph is to tell us something about the subject.

Q: Can I keep my Photos?

Answer:
Yes. You will receive a DVD containing all of the photographs shot on your wedding day and you will be granted full usage rights from the photographer. This means you may do with them as you please at no additional cost. You can print them, post them to the photo-sharing websites (Flickr, Snapfish, etc.) and email them to family and friends.

Q: Are the photographs on my DVD proofs?

Answer:
No. The photographs on your DVD are edited, finished photographs, not unedited proofs directly off my camera. This is an important difference. I review every photograph making minor adjustments as needed. Each image is post-processed, color-corrected and polished using the latest professional software. You can expect to receive color, black & white, sepia, color-toned and photo-manipulated photographs of your wedding day on your DVD.

Q: How soon will I get my DVD?

Answer:
The DVD will be packaged and mailed to you 3-4 weeks after your wedding day.

Q: Do you take portraits of pets other than dogs?

Answer:
Yes! I believe your family pet is a true member of your family. I focus on dogs, as I'm a dog owner, but I've had the occasion to take photos of rabits, cats, guinie pigs and snakes. I'm open for anything, as long as they are domestic. If you are a lion tamer, I'll consider taking portraits of you and your lion. ;p)
